The Spotted Dog is a much-loved, dog-friendly 15th-century country pub nestled in the heart of Penshurst. Taken over in 2025 by Bowes Hospitality, the pub is now enjoying a fresh chapter, with its historic charm restored and a new energy running through every corner.

About Us
Our menu is inspired by owner Laurence Bowes' time in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where he fell for the bold flavours and warm hospitality of American barbecue. Expect slow-smoked meats, Southern-style dishes, and seasonal specials made with local ingredients and plenty of care. Drinks-wise, we serve local ales like Larkins Traditional and Harveys Best, our own White Wolf lager, craft beers, a thoughtful wine list, and great low-alcohol options too.
